ICT

A key question involved in integrating new digital technologies into classrooms and schools is: How can they support, enhance and improve learning? In my classroom I implement the use of technology through effective pedagogical approaches, in new ways that foster engaging, meaningful and collaborative learning. As a teacher, I can utilise digital technologies to contribute to the transformation of education to facilitate exploration, creativity and meaning making.

In my classroom, students use technology as a tool for learning with high engagement levels and creativity. An example is using the app Book Creator to make an ebook with text, images, audio and video.

In the e-Tutor project, I support English language learners in India through an online collaborative learning space. E-Tutor provided lots of opportunities for teaching and learning that was authentic, meaningful and resulted in a positive cultural exchange .

Sock Puppets and Tellegami applications supports language development and dialogue in a fun, engaging way.

In Nepal, I designed an English language unit that incorportated the use of ICT to create a music video. The students used cameras and practiced editing skills in the computer centre.

ICT can be a powerful tool to support EAL learners and students with special needs. Applications such as explain everything, padlet, book creator, word wizard and tellagami can assist language development and be useful forms of assessment.

I have been using See Saw - a digital portfolio platform to showcase students work. It is a simple and practical way to record, share and celebrate students work.

I love working on creative learning projects where students can express themselves and develop technical skills. I was a key organiser in the Oaktober Film Festival at Oak Park Primary School where students made films and explored using cameras, tripods, green screen and stop motion animation.

For the past 5 years I have been attending 'Techie Brekkie' a weekly breakfast meeting where teachers share knowledge, explore and play with technology. I have run a number of sessions myself, including exploring the apps See Saw, Explain Everything and Book

creator.
