Building positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, teachers and the broader school community relies on clear communication and interpersonal skills. It is a high priority for me to create a friendly, inclusive and welcoming environment in the classroom and using strategies and practices that reflect building positive and constructive relationships.
Utilising effective classroom managment strategies - calls to attention, body movements, songs, chants, breathing exercises and props.
Positive relationships and ability to express ourselves respectfully. Classroom rules and school values taught and reinforced.
Visual support in the classroom to communicate information and give structure and organisation to the day.
Innovative techniques and strategies for communication - reading bubbles are blown when everyone is reading silently, and icypole sticks for choosing a monitor or for grouping.
Teaching social and emotional learning skills and values education. Circle time for building our classroom community and giving space for everyone to have a voice.
Non verbal communication strategies. A checking in charts to be aware of feelings and emotions.
Teaching mindfulness, wellbeing and positive mindset.
